BCBUSINESS + Laykhaus

Women of the year 2026

This June, Laykhaus had the honor of joining BC Business at the Terminal City Club to celebrate the 7th annual Women of the Year Awards. The 2026 event recognized 23 standout leaders who are changing the economic landscape of British Columbia. To mark the occasion, we created a custom, limited-edition 2oz mini candle. Hand-poured with a delicate Cherry Blossom scent, the release was timed perfectly to match the local Vancouver blooms happening outside during the event. It stands as a physical reminder of an inspiring night where the province's top business minds and independent local creators came together to celebrate excellence.

Celebrating Women-Led Businesses

The real highlight of the evening was the rare opportunity to sit in a room filled with brilliant minds and listen to the raw, unfiltered stories of inspirational women redefining business leadership in British Columbia. For Laykhaus, those stories felt incredibly close to home. We are a female-owned and led business that started simple, born out of passion and a search for wellness right on the kitchen counter of a small condo in North Vancouver. Our goal was straightforward: to design premium home scent products that tell the immersive stories of the world’s lakes.

Sitting among the province's corporate titans at the Terminal City Club was a surreal reminder of how far a small, independent brand can travel. Today, Laykhaus is recognized as one of B.C.’s most innovative home scent companies, collaborating with world-class destinations and luxury resorts. But being part of the BC Business Women of the Year Awards reinforced a fundamental truth: our growth is not an isolated milestone. We are only able to build, create, and innovate because this local business community actively lifts its creators up. It is living proof that when women lead, they don't just build successful companies—they build a collective foundation where everyone rises together.

Stepping onto the main stage to address an audience of honourees and captains of industry, Editor-in-Chief Darcy Matheson beautifully encapsulated the energy of the evening when honoring the Laykhaus collaboration gifts as "The Smell of Success".

All attendees received a 2oz mini travel candle, with VIPs and winners each presented with one of six signature Laykhaus scent diffusers ahead of their main launch this summer. Diffusers featured a custom design featuring the Laykhaus signature starry night pattern alongside a message from Darcy Matheson.
