    Located in Lynn Headwaters Regional Park, North Vancouver, British Columbia

    There are 40 kilometers of trails to explore. The park encompasses the entire Lynn Creek headwaters, from the tops of the mountain peaks to the banks of rushing creeks and streams.

    Rice Lake is a popular area to go for relaxing walks around its banks surrounded by douglas fir, with bearded lichens and temperate rainforest mosses covering the branches. 


    Rice Lake is a popular fishing spot in all seasons particularly spring and fall where you will see people casting off from the dock and from a secluded spot along the shore. 


    Wildlife: Rice lake is situated in a second-growth forest. The most common coniferous trees in the forests are Douglas fir, western red cedar, western hemlock, and Sitka spruce. Lynn Headwaters is the habitat for a diversity of fauna. While the lake is home to rainbow trout, there are some mammals include squirrels, raccoons, mice, and deer that roam around the lake. Amphibians and insects include the salamander, mayfly, caddisfly, and stonefly. Also, some birds that are present are red-breasted sapsuckers, winter wrens, owls, crows, chickadees, and northern flickers.


    Safety

    Lynn headwaters is a mountainous area and popular hiking region and it is important to note that safety is a must when visiting deeper inthis area on the north shore. If you are considering visiting the area please refer to the North Shore Rescue guide.
